The Red Queen found the neatest little tool (probably at a garage sale!) to getting any kid to eat their food! This cool little contraption cut a sandwich (or anything else) into ity bity bites just for kids! And it's super easy to do. You just take the cutter side and push it down on the sandwich, rock it back n forth and push out the little pieces with the popper. That's it!
If you use a tube of makeup (or anything else for that matter) and you want to use every last pennies worth, here's a quick tip that's a no brainier!
Cut the back of the tube or the seem off. Use a small spatula or baby spoon to scoop out what's inside and put it in a plastic jar. You can pick them up at Target or even on amazon for super cheap. They are small, compact and reusable.
I can't believe how much goes to waste in these tubes!
Welcome to a Fly on the Wall group post. Today 15 bloggers are inviting you to catch a glimpse of what you’d see if you were a fly on the wall in our homes. Come on in and buzz around my house.
Our house in the middle of the street
As most of you know, and if your new let me fill you in, we move into my childhood home back in July. It had to be gutted due to flooding and completely remodeled. Guess who did all the work? It's still not 100% done but it's getting there. Really it's just the little, lose end stuff we have just no desire to finish after working our entire summer away. I must have painted for weeks. I know I keep promising pictures of it finished, but it's not, so I don't want to jump the gun. They are coming though, I just need my mom to dig up before pictures.
Anyway here are a few of my current projects or messes, yeah mostly just messes.
This is where I work. Yes as I type I'm sitting at this pile of ...
I will eventually get an actual office, that is when my mom moves out, you see she's living in what will be my office. I can't wait to work in there, it was her office my whole life and it's all built out and set up to be an office!
This is my brother's room, we inherited him and his dog, by inherited I mean he came with the house because he never moved out. This is my living room. I love my brother, but it's really time for him to spread those bachelor wings and move! Notice the Hello Kitty fruit snacks, you guessed it those aren't my daughters! I can't complain to much, I had to move back in with my parents back before my hubby and I were married and this was my room!
Even the cat got a new roommate! No that's not a reflection, there are actually two cats there! My mom has a black & white cat named Lucy, she's the one inside and we have a black & white cat named Cherry, she's the one outside. Cherry and Lucy play this game all day long, one wants in, the other wants out. I think they are just toying with me!
Owl Always Love You
I have a small obsession with owls, long before it became a trend. However, this trend is making it easier for me to pick up cute stuff! My whole front bathroom is done in owl stuff, yes ok you caught me it's the Target collection. There's a rug in there too, but it's dirty and in the wash right now.
And there's more! This is my favorite, a neat ring my mom picked up on one of her garage sale adventures. Then I have this cute scent/candle holder and another treasure I found is my earring holder. Oh and there's more but I didn't want to take pictures of everything! I just realized I'm going to be one of the old ladies with a ton of weird old trinkets all over my house. Wait I already am!
Anyway I think I know where my love of owl came from. Growing up in this house there were owls that lived in the tree across the street and they would "who" all day. I've always loved the sound and now I can collect these cute little creators and decorate my house with them! I even have a board on Pinterest dedicated to owl's, see...
My baby girl is finally ready to sit at table with everyone else and eat dinner, well kinda. She got her new highchair yesterday and got to break it in right away! I had made spaghetti for the rest of the family, so I through some in the blender, chopped it up a bit and let her go to town. She loves it and her new chair. Thank you daddy!
Now that you got to buzz around my pad, click on these links for a peek into some other homes:
Every parent has those items they just could not survive the first year (or two) of having a baby without. I mean aside from the basic's like a crib, stroller, car seat, etc. I'm talking about things you bought or had given to you, that you just could imagine not having. I thought this might help other to-be or newbie parents build their list of relevant products to have.
Then I challenge other parent bloggers to make a list of 5 things that just made their life, in that first year, so much easier and link it up at the bottom of this post! Common let's help build a list from real parents, all in one place!
Here's my list:
5. Around and Around Walker
I don't know what else to call this thing but that's what she does. She goes around and around, running as fast as she can, lifting her feet and sliding. She can turn every which way and is can see everything around here. But unlike a walker, which we have also, she can't go exploring into other rooms. Either way she loves this thing! It has some much to do, it keeps her busy forever! My older daughter did too at this age. I will say though when my older one could actually walk and got a little stronger she started dragging the toy part around. That's when we knew she was too big for it!
4. Jumper
She's been in this thing since before she could sit. Our arms would get tried from her wanting to bounce in our laps so much. Now she gets going in this thing and we have to make sure there is nothing around it for her to run into! My husband found a stud in our ceiling and secured it in the middle of our room, of course, with a way to take it down. But again this is one of those things that keeps them in one place, while allowing them to have a little freedom and fun. I use this one when I'm taking a shower!
3. The Medicine Bottle Every parent know how much fun it is to get a syringe full of medicine into a babies mouth long enough to squirt it in, just to have in go everywhere! Well that's why this is one of my must haves. No more fighting, no more messes. Just put the medicine in the measuring cup part, snap the lid on with the nipple and bam! Baby things they are getting something yummy and they suck away!
2. Bottle Warmer with Cooler Compartment
This just recently made it on my top 5 because I gave up nursing for good and made the switch to bottles. Which even at 8 months she's still takes 5-6 of them. So since I'm lazy and don't feel like going to the kitchen 3 times in the middle of the night, I got this. I did my research before buying this so you know, I wanted one that it easy to use, but had a way to store pre-made bottles. FYI most other warmers are kind of a guessing game as to how much water to use. This one has a little canister I fill like every 2-3 days and a dial that you set depending on how many ounces the bottle is (with a chart!). Plus there is a cooler in the back, with pre-formed iced packs to store bottles for the night. AND that's not all, ha ha, no but seriously, I use it to heat her baby food. Yeah I make her baby food, put it in the food pouches and freeze them. So I discovered if I put the warmer on the highest setting, I can walk away and the pouch will be completely defrosted when it's done with the heating cycle! I will admit the only draw back to this warm so far is it takes about 8 minutes to heat a 9 ounce bottle, which is a long time in the middle of the night with a crying baby. But all in all I can't complain!
1. Bathtub Ring I find it funny that this one is my number one thing to have and yet it can't be found in the store. I had one of these for my other two and had no problem finding one then. But now they have been yanked and I had to order it off of Ebay! I sure because someone had the bright idea of leaving their child in it alone, but I never do that, not even for a minute. I do however, love that she can have some freedom in the bathtub and still be safe. She's sitting just she's not always stable. I tried those other ones where they lay down but she kicks and squirms to much, she wants to sit. Not I can put her in the tub with her big sister and bathe them at the same time and she can have fun too! I even put her in it, when I'm in the shower and let her play at my feet. We have a big shower so that works for us, but I really don't know how I could live without this thing!
I came across these pictures my mom took of my older daughter aka The Dormouse back when she was about two years old, she WAS so cute. Okay she's still cute now she's just a wild child! My mom and i share a passion for photography, well my mom more than me, but nonetheless these came out pretty darn good!
