My Top 5 Must Have Baby Items

Thursday - 12.19.2013

Like it? Love it? Share it with everyone!

Every parent has those items they just could not survive the first year (or two) of having a baby without. I mean aside from the basic's like a crib, stroller, car seat, etc. I'm talking about things you bought or had given to you, that you just could imagine not having. I thought this might help other to-be or newbie parents build their list of relevant products to have.

Then I challenge other parent bloggers to make a list of 5 things that just made their life, in that first year, so much easier and link it up at the bottom of this post! Common let's help build a list from real parents, all in one place!

Here's my list:

5. Around and Around Walker
I don't know what else to call this thing but that's what she does. She goes around and around, running as fast as she can, lifting her feet and sliding. She can turn every which way and is can see everything around here. But unlike a walker, which we have also, she can't go exploring into other rooms. Either way she loves this thing! It has some much to do, it keeps her busy forever! My older daughter did too at this age. I will say though when my older one could actually walk and got a little stronger she started dragging the toy part around. That's when we knew she was too big for it!

4. Jumper
She's been in this thing since before she could sit. Our arms would get tried from her wanting to bounce in our laps so much. Now she gets going in this thing and we have to make sure there is nothing around it for her to run into! My husband found a stud in our ceiling and secured it in the middle of our room, of course, with a way to take it down. But again this is one of those things that keeps them in one place, while allowing them to have a little freedom and fun. I use this one when I'm taking a shower!

3. The Medicine Bottle
Every parent know how much fun it is to get a syringe full of medicine into a babies mouth long enough to squirt it in, just to have in go everywhere! Well that's why this is one of my must haves. No more fighting, no more messes. Just put the medicine in the measuring cup part, snap the lid on with the nipple and bam! Baby things they are getting something yummy and they suck away!

2. Bottle Warmer with Cooler Compartment
This just recently made it on my top 5 because I gave up nursing for good and made the switch to bottles. Which even at 8 months she's still takes 5-6 of them. So since I'm lazy and don't feel like going to the kitchen 3 times in the middle of the night, I got this. I did my research before buying this so you know, I wanted one that it easy to use, but had a way to store pre-made bottles. FYI most other warmers are kind of a guessing game as to how much water to use. This one has a little canister I fill like every 2-3 days and a dial that you set depending on how many ounces the bottle is (with a chart!). Plus there is a cooler in the back, with pre-formed iced packs to store bottles for the night. AND that's not all, ha ha, no but seriously, I use it to heat her baby food. Yeah I make her baby food, put it in the food pouches and freeze them. So I discovered if I put the warmer on the highest setting, I can walk away and the pouch will be completely defrosted when it's done with the heating cycle! I will admit the only draw back to this warm so far is it takes about 8 minutes to heat a 9 ounce bottle, which is a long time in the middle of the night with a crying baby. But all in all I can't complain!

1. Bathtub Ring
I find it funny that this one is my number one thing to have and yet it can't be found in the store. I had one of these for my other two and had no problem finding one then. But now they have been yanked and I had to order it off of Ebay! I sure because someone had the bright idea of leaving their child in it alone, but I never do that, not even for a minute. I do however, love that she can have some freedom in the bathtub and still be safe. She's sitting just she's not always stable. I tried those other ones where they lay down but she kicks and squirms to much, she wants to sit. Not I can put her in the tub with her big sister and bathe them at the same time and she can have fun too! I even put her in it, when I'm in the shower and let her play at my feet. We have a big shower so that works for us, but I really don't know how I could live without this thing!

Thanks for sharing another adventure with me!
Stay safe, stay sane and stay absolutely splendid!
